Dr. Joyce Follows grew up in Grand Cayman as the daughter of the Barefoot Man (George Nowak). She has been a part of Island Veterinary Services since 2002 and remembers starting as a 13 year old high school girl cleaning dog kennels. She has since earned her Associates of Science at UCCI, Bachelors of Science at Mississippi State University, and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She enjoys all aspects of companion animal veterinary medicine and enjoys working with people almost as much as she loves working with animals. She became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through The Chi Institute in Gainsville, Florida, and enjoys combining Eastern Chinese medicine with Western veterinary medicine to help her patients. When she is not working, you can find her hanging on the beach with her sister and her dog, kayaking, snorkeling, surfing, and pretty much anything in the water. She also enjoys travelling and plans to see a new part of the world every year. She is very excited to begin as a veterinarian at IVS and very happy to re-join the IVS family!
